Don’t know what to do.

Project: Bent

Daily Word Goal: 4550

Word Count Today: 5960

Word Count Total: 33212

Working on Chapter: 14

Music: “I Can’t Decide” by Scissor Sisters on repeat.

Mood: Slightly manic (probably because of the choice of music).

Things I like: Really quite happy with this part of the story overall.

Things I’m not so sure about: Am realizing that this draft is never in a million years going to get to 50 000 words before I reach the end of the story. How short! But I know with revisions that word count is going to grow quite a bit. I’ve decided that I will consider my goal reached if am able to finish the story itself before the end of the month (which throws all worries of word counts out the window, really).

Thoughts:

Day 13 technically was Monday of this week, and all 5960 of those words were written in about four hours at a coffee shop, listening to one song on repeat, staring somewhat zombie-like at my computer screen, sipping a giant two-handled mug of Americano. I am in the midst of the story’s heart and climactic action and the words seem to be flowing more freely than ever before. This may also be because a certain character is teetering on the edge of sanity right now, and so everything I’m writing from his perspective is following a much freer style that I might usually employ.

I took the day off yesterday without guilt for my birthday, and now I’m counting days and attempting to figure how long it’s going to take me to wrap up this story. I will be travelling once again this weekend, to Vilnius in Lithuania, and so really I have tonight (Wednesday), tomorrow, and then whatever work I can get done on the two-hour flights at either end of the trip. I would dearly love to have Monday as a turn-around day, to mentally prepare myself for NaNoWriMo and The Con, which is a very different sort of story.

I think I can do this.
