Thoughts: Today is my turnaround day. After finishing a draft of my rather dark YA fantasy novel Bent, it’s time to switch gears entirely and get my head in the right space for the much lighter, contemporary story I’m calling The Con. I wrapped up my revision notes for Bent so that I could comfortably put it in a drawer for the month, and then reviewed my outline for The Con, adding some notes, questions and ideas that came to me as I was doing so. I also made myself some visual inspiration - clipping together images from the internet to represent the characters and setting of the story and serve as my desktop background/motivation for the duration of the challenge. I may or may not have used Darren Criss as my male lead. I don’t have a problem, I swear.
I’m going to stick with my daily writing goal of 2500 words, which is an entirely achievable number and adds up to a very reasonable 20 writing days out of 30. I hope that I will be able to take the tricks I learned during KaNoWriMo (coffee shops and trains, y’all) and apply them to finally being able to call myself a NaNo winner this year.
